Lost Foam

Lost Foam Part & Pattern

The Lost Foam process uses polystyrene patterns that are built into clusters of one to several patterns per cluster dependent on pattern and flask size. These clusters are coated and then compacted in a metal flask. The molten metal displaces the polystyrene pattern precisely duplicating all of the features of the pattern as the cluster is poured.

A polystyrene pattern must be produced for every casting poured.
Key Benefits:
Highly complex castings with dimensional accuracy.
Consolidation of many parts into one integral component.
   Cores are eliminated.
   Elimination of parting lines.
Minimal draft required with no draft feasible in defined areas.
   Reduced machining.
Applications:
   Pumps
   Adapters
   Filter Housings
   Cylinder Heads
   Motor Housings
   Fuel Nozzles
   Compressor Housings
